Websites
Most small business sites are a brochure that happens to be online.
They describe the business to somebody who already decided to look it up. They do not answer a question, take a booking, or tell anything else you run what your Saturday hours are. A site can do all three, and once it does, the rest of your operation has somewhere to stand.
The website is where your business writes down what it knows
Every business carries a set of facts that live in the owner's head and nowhere else. What you charge for a callout. Whether you cover the far side of the valley. What happens on a first visit. Which jobs you turn down.
Nothing else can answer a customer until those are written down somewhere.
That is the real reason to build the site properly, and it is the thing a template has no opinion about. A phone agent, a website chat and an automated text are all the same problem in three costumes: something has to know your business well enough to speak for it. Build the site as that record, and the next three things you add are configuration rather than projects.
What we build into it
It is the source your agents answer from
The hours, the services, the areas you cover, what a first appointment involves. Written once, on the site, and read by the phone agent when somebody calls and by the chat when somebody asks. You change your Saturday hours in one place and the phone stops telling people the old ones.
It is built so a stranger can act in one move
Calling, booking, or sending enough detail that you can quote. Every page is built backwards from that, which mostly means removing things. A visitor who has to hunt for the phone number has already been given a reason to try somebody else.
It is legible to the machines reading it about you
The structured description of your business that search engines and assistants read, stated identically to what every other source about you says. This is the same discipline behind our AI visibility work, applied at the point where the site is built rather than corrected afterwards.
It is fast, and it works for everybody
Performance and accessibility are built in rather than audited later, because retrofitting either one means rebuilding whatever was already there. A site that takes six seconds on a phone at a job site is a site nobody at that job site saw.
Five disciplines, one person, no handoffs
Search, AI, user experience, accessibility and web performance. At an agency those are five separate hires, and the gaps between them are where a site quietly gets worse: the design that the build cannot hit, the copy written after the layout was locked, the accessibility pass nobody scoped.
Twenty five years in technology, across all five.
The site you are reading is the reference build. Open it on a phone, tab through it with a keyboard, look at how fast it paints. Whatever you think of the writing, that is the standard the work is held to.
There is no price on this page, and that is deliberate
Everything else we sell has a number on its page, because everything else is a defined piece of work. This one is not. Five pages for a trade with an existing brand and existing photography is a different job from a site that has to carry service areas, booking, and enough written material for an agent to answer from.
A starting-from number here would be a figure you would then have to be talked out of, which is a worse conversation than the one where we ask what you need.
So we scope it on a call and quote it once. If what you describe is smaller than what you came in expecting to pay for, we will say that too.
One number on this site is easy to mistake for a website price and is not one. The texting setup page carries a $1,200 to $3,500 band for a site project. That exists because a carrier reviewer has to be able to open a page on your website before your business can be cleared to send messages, so it is a prerequisite scoped to that job. It is not what a website costs here.
When not to talk to us about a website
If your site is fine and the leak is somewhere else. This is the most common answer we give. A business losing work to unanswered calls does not need a new homepage, and the audit exists to establish which it is before anybody spends anything.
If you want a site as a credential rather than as a working part of the business. A page that exists so you can put a URL on a card is a real thing to want, and it is not what this is or what it costs.
If you need it live next week. Doing this properly means writing down what your business knows, and that part moves at the speed of your availability rather than ours.
Questions
What does a website cost?
We quote it on a call, and we do not put a starting-from number here. The honest reason is that the work ranges too widely to anchor: five pages for a trade with an existing brand is a different job from a site that has to carry booking, service areas and material for the agents to read. A number on this page would be a guess you would then have to be talked out of.
I saw a $1,200 to $3,500 figure on your texting page. Is that the price?
No, and it is worth separating them. That band is a prerequisite site project inside a texting engagement, built because a carrier reviewer has to open a page on your website before you can be cleared to send messages. It is scoped to that job. A website as its own project is quoted on its own.
Do I have to buy the phone agent or the chat as well?
No. The site stands on its own and plenty of clients only want the site. What is true is that if you add either of them later, the material is already there and the setup is shorter, because the expensive part of those products is turning what a business knows into something an agent can read.
Who actually builds it?
Arthur does. Twenty five years in technology across search, AI, user experience, accessibility and web performance, which at most agencies are five separate hires and five separate handoffs. This site is the reference build.
Can you work with the site I already have?
Often, and it is worth asking before assuming a rebuild. Some sites need a rebuild, some need the parts that convert fixed and the rest left alone, and telling the difference takes a look rather than a policy. If yours does not need replacing we will say so.
What if an agency currently owns my site?
That is a common situation and it changes the work more than people expect, because every change becomes a request into somebody else's queue. Tell us early. It affects the website conversation and it affects the texting clearance separately.
What do you want somebody to be able to do on it?
Call, book, get a quote, find out whether you cover their street. That answer decides most of the build, and it is a better place to start than a page count.
Scoped and quoted on a call. See everything we do if the site is one of several things you are weighing up.
